US phone bill changes, on the record

United States

Carriers change their monthly fees with a support-page update and a new line on your bill. We record each change: the fee's name as printed on the bill, the amount per line before and after, the date it takes effect, and the page where the carrier says so.

What we record

  • Every recurring fee and surcharge a carrier adds per line, under the name printed on the bill.
  • The amount before and after a change, and the date it takes effect.
  • Which plans include taxes and fees in the advertised price, and which add them on top.
  • What a change adds up to per month and per year for one to five lines.
  • The date we checked each figure, and a link to the carrier's own page.

How we work

We read the carriers' own support pages, price lists and notices, and federal filings where they exist. We do not estimate a fee we could not find, and we do not rely on news reports when the carrier publishes the figure itself. When something cannot be confirmed, the page says so.

Every page carries the date it was last checked, so you can judge how current it is. Read more about our approach on the about page.
